Until then, you can learn a few more tidbits about Phantom Fury over at Steam. Once we get an actual date, as well as a lengthier gameplay preview, I'll make sure to let you know. That said, you can expect to see Phantom Fury launch onto PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch at some point in 2023. Much like many of the recent announcement from 3D Realms, no release date has been announced just yet. That should clue you in quite quickly on just what Phantom Fury looks like and what it's trying to do. Rather than continue to babble on, allow me to share with you the reveal trailer. As far as new toys go, the game has a few unexciting additions and one that stood out. I'm delighted that bowling bombs are still Shelly's signature tool, mostly because I've been a fan since the Crash Team Racing days. Each level will feature a great deal of interactivity, as well as the option to creatively circumvent many of the trickier sections, so in theory there should be a fair bit of replay value. Phantom Fury delivers that action with weapons fans of the previous game will remember and others that are new to the mix. In terms of setting, Phantom Fury will take place many years after the original and will have you smash through hordes of cyborgs and mutants on a road trip across the USA. Taking place many years after her fight against Jadus Heskel, Shelly Bombshell Harrison awakes in a new world, pulled out of a coma at the behest of an old colleague, with a new bionic arm. Needless to say, you can expect to see a whole bunch of vehicles to pilot, environmental puzzles to solve in between bouts of extreme violence, as well as a whole bunch of fun new toys like controllable drones, electrified foam, and the always handy armor-piercing shotguns. Instead of being an homage to classic Build Engine games, Ion Fury's successor Phantom Fury is going to be making a massive technological leap forward and basing its over-the-top action on early 2000s FPS games.
